Personal History of Champion Parcifal of Blackwater Kennels,

Frau Frieda Florentine

and Satchmo of Blackwater.

Ch Parcifal of Blackwater Kennels was born on Valentines Day, 1991.

He entered many AKC shows beginning in his sixth month and became an AKC Champion shortly after his first birthday. After attaining that honor, Parci retired from Doggie "show biz" and appeared in the ring only one more time.  That was the Parade of Champions in the spring of 1992.  Parci passed on April 18, 2000, following a long bout with cancer.

Frieda Florentine, AKC, was born on March 13, 1993 and "moved in" with Parci in May of that year. It was Billet Doux’s intent to enter Ms Florentine in Doggie Shows, but a series of accidents prevented her from following in Parci's paw prints. When she was nine weeks old Frieda suffered a slight fracture to her back left leg requiring her to wear a small splint for a couple of weeks. When she was six months old she suffer a major break of her back left leg which required major surgery thus eliminating any possibility of her ever being entered in future shows.

Frieda took the bad luck in stride (sorry about that) and seemed quite content to remain with Parcifal as his "significant other" at their home on No Name Drive in the hills near Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles.

Satchmo of Blackwater was born on March 23, 2000 at Blackwater Kennels in Riverside.  Satch is a distant cousin of Champion Parcifal and came to live with Frau Frieda and Billet Doux on No Name Drive on May 20, 2000.  He was named in honor of Louis Armstrong (August 4,1901-July 6, 1971).
Satchmo has appeared in numerous shows, beginning in December, 2000, but has not yet attained enough wins and points to become a champion.  In the fall of 2001, Satch decided to leave Doggie Show Biz an pursue other interest(?)

Frieda and Satchmo are Briards:

bri·ard (br¶-är", -ärd") n. Any of an ancient French breed of sturdily built,

rough-coated dogs. [French, from Brie, a region of northern France.]

It would seem so romantic to be from "northern France."

Frieda and Satch are not so romantic in their heritage. Parcifal and Satchmo were born in Riverside, California and Frieda is from a small town, near an even smaller town, somewhere south of another small town near Sacramento!

The name "Parcifal" predates the opera by Wagner.

"Parcifal" is from the Grail Myth, circa 1250. The name means, "the innocent fool" and is more likely applicable to Billet Doux than to Champion Parci.

Frau Frieda Florentine, AKC, has a more earthy lineage.

Frieda Florentine was the title of a song by Flatt and Scruggs in their bluegrass album (Nashville Skyline) circa 1966.

As stated earlier, Young Satch is named in honor of the great Louie "Satchmo" Armstrong, simply the best!

Frieda is a member of AFTRA and SAG and represented by: Ms Pat Brannon, at THE TALENT GROUP, INC., 6300 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 900, Beverly Hills,   California, 90212 and Mr. Thomas E. O' Sullivan, Esq., O'SULLIVAN, WORKMAN AND DEE, 800 South Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, California 90017.
Satchmo is at present not a member of AFTRA or SAG and has appeared in the promotional TV spot for the Animal Planet Channel in the spring of 2001.
